Travelers to Danish airport to receive information of the novel coronavirus

The Danish Health Authority has asked airline companies to inform passengers arriving from Beijing, China or from Hong Kong of the novel coronavirus.

14 FEB 2020

All passengers on the mentioned aircrafts will receive a flyer upon unboarding. Also, posters have been displayed throughout the airport.

The information material has been distributed to all Danish airports with international connection. It contains information on symptoms of infection with novel coronavirus and on who to contact if they develop symptoms.

“The information material is developed as a part of our efforts to inform the public of novel coronavirus and to make both travelers and employees in airports feel safe”, explains Søren Brostrøm, Director General of The Danish Health Authority.

The Danish Health Authority has collaborated with the Danish airports to ensure that the information material is posted and distributed. The information material is solely intended as information for travelers.

The risk of becoming infected in Denmark is small. This is also the case for travelers passing through Danish airports. There is no need to be worried when traveling through Danish airports.

In addition to the airports, the Danish Health Authority has also been in dialogue with the Danish harbors. The harbors have also been offered the information material for distribution among passengers and crews at boarding ships. When cruise ships start arriving in Denmark later this spring, they will also be offered relevant information regarding the novel coronavirus and COVID-19.

The information material is available from the website of the Danish Health Authority and is free to use. It is available in Danish , English and Chinese.

General advice in order to avoid viral airway infections, that also apply to the novel coronavirus, are:

  • Hand hygiene – primarily washing your hands and if necessary performing hand disinfection if the hands are visibly clean and dry
  • Avoid contact with visibly ill individuals with upper airway symptoms
  • Cough and sneezing into a disposable handkerchief, or alternatively in the inner portion of the elbow

With these precautions, you protect yourself and others from infection.
