People aged 65 and over are offered vaccination against influenza and COVID-19
If you are 65 years of age or older, the Danish Health Authority recommends that you get vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19.
Advanced age is the biggest risk factor for severe influenza and COVID-19. As an older person, you are at higher risk of becoming seriously ill with influenza and COVID-19. This is due to various factors, including a weakened immune system.
The risk of serious illness from influenza and COVID-19 is greatest if you also have a condition such as heart disease, lung disease or diabetes, but older people who are otherwise healthy are also at increased risk.
You may be more debilitated by the diseases than younger people, and it takes longer to recover.
If you are 65 years of age or older, we therefore recommend that you get vaccinated against both influenza and COVID-19.
You can get vaccinated from 1 October 2025 until 20 December 2025.
It is free and voluntary whether you want to get vaccinated.
Even if you have been vaccinated before, it is important that you get vaccinated again, as the effect of a vaccination decreases over time and new variants of influenza and coronavirus change every year. When you get vaccinated again, you will be better protected against these diseases this winter.
The vaccination reduces your risk of getting influenza and COVID-19. If you do become infected, it reduces the risk of serious illness.
